You don’t need to dress up, hire a sitter, stay up late or brave the elements to take part in our biggest family fundraiser yet! You can simply write a cheque or make an online donation from the comfort of your living room. Our goal is to raise $10,000 from this initiative, which can be achieved by 100 families donating $100! An added incentive is that every donation of $100 or more is tax deductible—but we are more than happy to accept donations of ANY amount you see fit. Every dollar adds up!
a) Online: using a credit card or PayPal account. Visit parksfdn.com, click the DONATE NOW BUTTON from the Community-Led Projects Page. Specify 'Highland Park Community' in the PayPal payment page where it asks the question “Which project are you supporting?”

Spolumbo's Playground Fundraiser May 1 - 25
Spolumbo's is back!
Just in time for BBQ season, we have another Playground Fundraiser for you. Spolumbos sausages are in great demand and are awesome!! All of the sausage products come fresh, while the burger patties (chicken or beef) come frozen. It is recommended that you portion your sausages before freezing them.
All of Spolumbos sausages and patties contain NO: Gluten – MSG – Binders – Fillers – Preservatives – Eggs – Dairy – Nuts – Nitrates.
There are 2 trays in each case, so half orders are available for all sausages. What's changed this year is that you can order a half case without coordinating with someone else. Please note - Burger patties and Chicken burger patties are excluded from ordering a half case.
Please contact Carolyn at hallmanager@highlandparkcommunity.ca to get your order form via email. Bring your completed order form in (only one per family) along with payment (cash or cheque made out to Highland Park Community Association) to Carolyn at the Highland Park Community Association. Carolyn can be reached at hallmanager@highlandparkcommunity.ca or 403.276.6969.
This fundraising campaign will run from May 1 - 25. Orders will be ready for pick up on Saturday, June 9 (between 10:30am - 11:00am at the Community Hall) Please note that you must pick up your sausages or have someone pick them up for you. We cannot store them at the community hall.

There will be a 4 day Transit Oriented Development (TOD) workshop taking place between October 17 and 22. This workshop is also known as a Design Charette. A charette is a multi-day, collaborative planning workshop led by a consultant team that brings together citizens, area business owners, developers, and policy makers to create a plan for the area surrounding the future LRT station that will be located at Centre St and 40 Ave N.
The intent is to create a plan for the station and the possibilities for development in the area around it that is feasible and that supports the community. You'll be able to contribute to building the future of your community -- both of the actual station and what type of buildings, businesses, and other infrastructure will surround it in future.
This is where community voices can be heard, and as per City Council's motion on July 5 in regards to the development of the golf course, we can "ensure coordination with the Green Line project."
Day 1 - Issues: Mon Oct 17 - 6:30 to 9:00 pm
Day 2 - Ideas: Tues Oct 18 - 6:30 to 9:00 pm (limited spots)
Day 3 - Concepts: Thur Oct 20 - 6:30 to 9:00 pm
Day 4 - Solutions: Sat Oct 22 - noon to 2:00 pm

Letters of Support: Highland Park Golf Course
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Please consider sending this out to your mailing lists and community members, please stand in solidarity with Highland Park so that we can garner the necessary show of support on July 4 and in advance.
Thank you to everyone who has sent notes, come out to sessions, read our newsletter articles or got caught up to speed on the development of the Highland Park Golf Course.
We are now in official crunch time and we are hearing from the City and our Councillors office that there hasn't been much "public outcry" in regards to this development. We need to get more attention to this development and FAST! We need letters and voices- hundreds of them- every letter counts, even if you sent a letter already- please send another letter. Here is what I hope you will consider doing:
1. Write a letter/email and send it to every email address I have listed below. We have provided you with a list of items you might want to put in your personal letter. Its important that these letters not be a "form letter" but rather come from individuals who are speaking out against the current proposal. We need voices, many of them, to prove to Council that this development plan is NOT in the best interest of our community- if you are from Highland Park or anywhere else in the City. We should expect more from this development. We are taxpayers and deserve better planning. We are engaged and want to be treated as stakeholders. A proposal was shown to the community that demonstrated 2,100 units, before that the developer sought a plan of 1600 units --- now it has the potential to be over 4,000 Units. This is a colossal difference.
2. Come to Council in New City Hall on July 4th at 9:30 am. Speak up and have your voice heard. Council wants to know what the public thinks of the proposal, the process and the engagement. We desperately need people to give of their time on July 4 and be in the room and speak out. We will not win if we don't show that we care.
Again - if you need more information on the development don't hesitate to drop me a line. If you want help writing a letter/email don't hesitate to drop me a line.
To make the letters part of the public record for the hearing, they need to be submitted to the public clerk cityclerk@calgary.ca before 10 am this Thursday.
Below is the list of emails for all Councillors and relevant parties in City of Calgary Planning:
