The Highland Park Community Association would like to thank the community members who gave their time so generously to volunteer to make the community clean-up on Saturday September 7th, 2019 such a success.
This year’s community clean up was one of the busiest our community has seen, with cars lined up around the block! Many community residents and others from surrounding neighbourhoods took advantage of the City of Calgary Waste and Recycling Services, electronic and metal waste vendors and our free cycle table. With so many participants, the wait times for drop offs felt long to some. For next year, we are partitioning the City for more garbage trucks and to encourage our surrounding communities to also hold an event earlier in the year.
We offer our appreciation to the City of Calgary workers, The Centre Street Church for helping advertise, the waste recyclers, GEEP e-waste recyclers, Recon Metal, to you who participated and brought many tons of waste and organic material, and again to those volunteers who helped make our neighbourhood a strong and vibrant, and now clean, community.
If you were inspired by what you saw at this year’s community clean-up with ideas or an urge to give back to your community. Please contact Anna Harland anna789@shaw.ca to volunteer for next year’s event.
